With everyone wanting his copyrights not to be removed, pages that are heavily hacked begin to look ridiculous. Copyrights for vb, for vbadvanced, for templates, for etc...

What would be nice is a credits.php at the bottom of each page. When clicks on, it will go to another page with all proper credits, descriptions etc...

Be aware though, that even if you have such a credits page, you'd still need permission to have the copyright there instead of at the bottom of the page.

The vBulletin copyright for example has to be on every page and can't just be linked to in a credits page.

Legally, the purpose of a copyrights is to give credits, not to be obstructive. Let's face it: it is ridiculous to have 8-9 lines of copyrights at the bottom of a page. Vbulletin says nothing about commenting out. Commenting out keeps it in the code, does not remove it, right?

Well, I've never seen it in such an extreme way :)

vBulletin doesn't allow you to comment it out, as it is stated in the license agreement that it has to be visible.
All vBulletin copyright notices within design templates must remain unchanged (and visible).

OK for vbulletin, since this is the original software. But take a look at the new countdown hack for example. I am all for giving credits to the author, but in the middle of the page????

Could you imagine if everyone does the same? That has to be stopped. I'd say this is encouraging people NOT to put the notice.
