user can hide forums themselves

i've searched the hole forum, but find only a a hack for 2.x thats hits my request:

i have written a hack, which allow's registred users to hide
unwanted forum's for themselves.

has someone released such a hack for vb3.x? or is there any other possibility to match that functionality?

I've written a hack so that users can select only certain forums to show in the find new posts, but I've never heard of anything to let them actually take them out of forumhome or forumdisplay.
