And you thought that greeting cards had died ....... think again! ... lmao
This hack will add a not-so-unique feature to you community in the form of a great promotional tool
It can display both normal images and flash files (.swf)
1 file edit
1 template edit
2 new db table
This hack uses and includes a copy of the [HIS] Hack Installer System (Build 3)
released by Link14716 and can be found here --> https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=71542
The admin area here is basicly a copy of the vB Jukebox.
You can upload all your images and flash files from your browser :)
I have not included any permissions so both your members and guests can send -O-GRAMS to promote your site
in the pic you will see that i called mine Trafix-O-GRAM .... however in the admin options you can call it whatever you like
ahhh what the hell here is the demo .... go look for yourself ..... but you cant register as it is a dev forum but i think it should be fine your your testing. i only have the one flash file and i have used some crappy images to test with. http://srv01.orpbus.com/~admin152/upload/vb_o_gram.php?do=main&imageid=12
I will reserve the first few posts to add links at a later stage to member flash file contributions ;)
OOOPS .... nearly forgot .... Please click INSTALL

Looks really awesome, will try this out tomorrow.
Question, are you able to edit the images and flash files in the admincp?
trafix
01-23-2005, 06:28 AM
yep ... you can edit and add new images in the admin ... you can even upload them from your browser :)
yep ... you can edit and add new images in the admin ... you can even upload them from your browser :)
Your instructions say to use vbogimages as the folder name, yet that isn't what is called by the scripts..its actually vbogram . :)
Aside from that, nice idea! (I just wish I could work out how to stop things overflowing on my fixed width styles.)

actually, when a member sends it does it include their referal link so they get the credit if a new member joins?

Here are a few suggestions:
1) Word censor/spam controls for outgoing e-mail, even if there are no censors on the forum :)
2) Limit threshold (only 1 VB-O-GRAM every so many seconds/minutes per user), could even have different settings for different usergroups.
3) Option to save a copy of all outgoing VB-O-GRAMS to a specified file/location for later review (could be a security issue, and could be abused, but could also be used in case of someone sending death threats via your VB-O-GRAM, for example). Or if not saving a copy - save a list of the to & from e-mail and title & time/date stamp.
4) Option to ban certain addresses or domains from receiving VB-O-GRAMS (such as whitehouse.gov, etc., for the same reasons noted above)

I know that it is extremist thinking, but I deal alot with computer security issues for a living, so when I see something like this I naturally notice such things. Many such services have been discontinued due to abuse on sites, or they install limits and filters to avoid these nuisances, so I was just trying to add my .02 to the hack, and was hoping that Trafix might be able to add in a few extra options in the ACP to cover these issues, since this is a great addition to a site!

( I'll dig around in your install file and try to install this manually...) some servers dont use mysql database on localhost or something like that
that makes problem with the install
its happend to hacks i coded also on 1 of my servers
so ill recommand that you will user the phpmyadmin tool that supplied with host and to insert this query
CREATE TABLE `vbogram_card` (
`vbogram_cardid` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`sendername` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',

`cardid` varchar(20) NOT NULL default '0',
`datestamp` int(11) NOT NULL default'0',
`reply` tinyint(4) NOT NULL default '0',
PRIMARY KEY (`vbogram_cardid`))
i removed all of \'\' cuse its uses on php thats why you didnt secced to enter this query manualy
try again with the query i gave u

OK, thanks. First table was apparently in there, second table worked via your method.
Now, I'm getting errors with these queries:
ALTER TABLE '.TABLE_PREFIX.'language ADD `phrasegroup_vbogram` MEDIUMTEXT NOT NULL
INSERT INTO '.TABLE_PREFIX.'phrasetype (phrasetypeid, fieldname, title, editrows) VALUES (885, 'vbogram', 'vB-O-Gram', 3)
I don't think its happy with the table prefix the way it's written. (I have no table prefix, as I upgraded from a 2.xx board a while back)
Thanks for the help. I'd like to get this to work.

If you are trying to run these queries manual, and don't use a prefix, change them like this:
ALTER TABLE language ADD phrasegroup_vbogram MEDIUMTEXT NOT NULL;
INSERT INTO phrasetype (phrasetypeid, fieldname, title, editrows) VALUES (885, 'vbogram', 'vB-O-Gram', 3)

OK, so the column is already in there. Not sure what's missing after this step, because it stops. Maybe, something to uninstall it all, to try again???
And just for giggles, I've added quite a few hacks with this system, maybe this is not cooperating because I'm using a mac server,OSX? Pretty damn good, but, I've got this for php files:
usr/local/php/bin/php
usr/local/php/lib/php/db.php
usr/local/php/lib/php.ini
Not sure what your install script is calling to. Or, if this even makes a difference.

Wonder if it has to do with something not installing... I have "vbogimages" directory in server root (not forum root), chmod 777, as per instructions.

Run the installer. Do the edits and template edits. Create the images folder.
THEN, go into Vboptions, the gram part, and make sure you identify the name of the folder that you created, which is chmod 777, and, is within the forum directory.
Hope it works better for you than it did for me, LOL. But it's a great hack.
It also seems that you have to input dimensions for your images, for them to show in the gram box.
OH, your swf files need to be smaller than your upper limit attachment size.

Well, I've been playing with this. And I am truly impressed.
http://x.russbo.com/vb/vb_o_gram.php?do=main&imageid=26
A few things that might help:
You can put any size in for the swf files, I use 500 x 500; if you go too wide, it will interfere with the drop down menus.
Get Flash Saver to capture your swf files: www.flash-screen.com
I resize my images down to 640 x 480 before uploading them. The upload in the admincp works great. If you FTP stuff to your image directory, use the "manual data entry " input link in the image list.
Make sure that you put sizes in the admincp upload area, otherwise nothing will show.
Put your images folder, chmod 777, into your forums directly, call it what you want. Write that into the vbulletins options / VB O Gram section.
It works great in IE. Netscape has some issues.
Really wish someone would figure out why Netscape won't allow text message input.
Nice job trafix. Works great. My girlfriend isn't talking to me anymore.

http://img183.exs.cx/img183/4113/vbogram25no.jpg
and this is what it looks like in MOZILLA FIREFOX (http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox&os=win&lang=en-US) :
http://img183.exs.cx/img183/6577/vbogram5vy.jpg
All other text areas work fine in Firefox with vbulletin. This is the first instance I have seen of it.
WIth Firefox all of the edit functions are visible, including smilies, but in IE it is just a text box.. perhaps that has something to do with it?? I dunno - just tossing out ideas since I have no clue ..LOL
PS- You should check out Firefox.. lotsa little goodies with it and it is much more secure than internet exploiter :D

nope- didn't get them the wrong way- I just checked them again to make sure. The mozilla text box never pops in, it just stays that color and you can never add text.
I have not registered at docvader's site, but I can report that what I posted is true and accurate as far as how my machine and my browsers are acting, and both pics were snapped at the same site: vB trader Dev Forum: Trafix-O-GRAM.
Attached is a pic of both browsers open, with the URL and edit boxes and browser types clearly visible.
EDIT: well, the IE browser is missing the URL since I cut it out and pasted it in the other browser, but you can see the title in the browser title bar indicating it is the same site.

ok i just loged out of my forum and looked at my vb-o-gram and the tool bars dont appear ... but when i log in a see alll the wysiwyg toolbars
which might explain the lack of tool bars when i view doc's site.
however i cant explain the firefox stuff yet

It does look like the window never finishes loading.. that was my first thought... since I have seen that window before on such occasions, or if you try replying to a quote, then going to another page, and then hittign back in the browser to the reply page. very strange.

Well, I don't know if this has anything to do with this problem, but I just noticed, that my private message area no longer functions correctly with Netscape. And it did before. Doesn't work in Firefox either. Just as it doesn't work iin the VB O Gram area. All works in IE though.
Does this hack somehow use the private message box files? Or, did it alter it in some way??

Yes the vb-o-gram uses the standard functions for text input ... exactly the same code that is used to input PM's, Posting threads etc ....
i used existing code and did not edit any of its functions

hmmm, i guess i could look at that for the next update :)cool- I think that if a person also had the vbjukebox installed that all you would need to make this work is a wysiwyg editor and an ability to link the pic to a file in the jukebox, and then they could leave a message- with their own pics/message, and a song, and a link back to the site. That way you could also embed a movie or whatever you want, as well.
If you could also add the ability to make them a cup of tea and shine their shoes that would be great too :D

I looked at the website and these are not really E-cards. They are short movies and poorly done. He doesn't even take time to change the dimensions to make them look nice.
Download this software and search for "flash E-cards". Flash Grabber allows one to download flash files from webpages.
http://www.download.com/Flash-Grabber/3000-2378_4-10112010.html
I started looking and adding some E-cards for this mod since it is a nice little addon for Vbulletin.

Hi Trafix - Gr8 hack !!
Everything is working fine for me.
But i have request: When a person receives the message, in the From/Sender option it shows the title of my website, i think it would more appealing if the name of the sender is shown to the person who is recieving it. Thus, the chances of person opening that Trafix-O-Gram would increase a lot more rather than ending in the heap of SPAM Folder.
Anyway, gr8 hack - Keep it up !!

I have my forum width set to 760, and for some reason all the tables in that main vbogram template were stretching my page about 40 pixels too wide. It also looked to cluttered having 2 additional tables in there when they didn't need to be so I did my best to make it blend better with the rest of the vBulletin style layout. In my opinion it's much cleaner :)

I agree- this is very odd. The text input box works fine in IE, but Firefox will not allow me to put any text in to the text area. Any ideas Trafix?has anyone come up wirh a fix for this error? I can only get this to work with the standard editor- the wysiwyg editor give me a blank edit area that I can't click or type in.
