I posted this at vbAdvanced but haven't heard anything back for a week. I thought i'd try here:

what i want to do is to create a blog on the front page of vbadvanced. all this blog would really be is a specific thread from a designated forum, titled "blog". each thread would last one month and be titled that month and year.

vbacmps already has this in some sorts, but it is designed as the News module. If you are familiar with that, then please follow carefully as this may get a little confusing. i am going to try to change the news module into a blog module.

in edit homepage,
1) under News Options > News Posts Maximum, set to 1 (this will only display one thread)
2) under News Options > News Maximum Characters, set to 0 (this will display the entire first post of the thread).

okay, this is where i get stuck. the way this module was written, all it will show is the first post of that thread. thus,

A) How or what would i change in order for it to DISPLAY ALL the posts or a SET number of posts of that same thread? if that is possible, and with the other options Brian has coded, it would be an awesome blog!

B) would it be possible to show that thread in REVERSE chronological order like a real blog? if so, how?

usefullness -

If this is possible, then this new Blog Module could be activated this way. Name your forum Blog and set permissions where only you can start new threads. Name each thread the month and year you are in. The way the News Options are above, If you start a new thread at the beginning of the new month, the new thread/blog of the month will automatically replace the previous one in the front of the home page.

the old blog will be bumped down and can be accessed straight through the forum. the Latest News Archive would then easily become the Latest Blogs Archive.

I think this would be really cool. Can anyone please help me with the above?

thanks! - yinyang
