Pinging weblogs.com when a new thread is posted to a cetain forum

I have one forum that gets displayed on the front page, courtesy of the vB Index hack and it is basically acting like a blog....well I was wondering if it is possible to make it so when a new thread is posted to that forum, a ping is sent to weblogs.com (or another similar site)?

Is that possible?

There has to be a way to do this in vBulletin, because there is a way to do this in phpBB:
