I can not spend the time to upgrade my entire site to v3.0.4 at this time. I did replace the init file to cover the security flaw though.
However, I'd like to kill the large "NEW VERSION" announcement in the admin CP. I'd prefer not to wast screen real estate on an announcement I'm well aware of. I'm not looking to circumvent any call home features or anything. I just want my admin CP back. (and an option should really be built in to disregard announcements).
Anyone able to point me in the right direction.
Please don't ask me to post at vbulletin.com, I have, they won't assist due to "file modifications."

Start editing out parts of admincp/index.php. That is what I did the other night when their server was down and I couldnt get into my admincp. Make a backup first!

We are not going to, but we cannot(at vBulletin.com) support any changes to the files.

Open admincp/index.php
FIND:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
if (typeof(vb_version) != "undefined" && isNewerVersion("<?php echo $vboptions['templateversion']; ?>", vb_version))
{
var current_version = "<?php echo $vboptions['templateversion']; ?>";
var latest_string = "<?php echo $vbphrase['latest_version_available_x']; ?>";
var current_string = "<?php echo $vbphrase['you_are_running_vbulletin_version_x']; ?>";
var download_string = "<?php echo $vbphrase['download_vbulletin_x_from_members_area']; ?>";
document.writeln('<table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" border="0" align="center" width="90%" class="tborder"><tr><td class="tcat" align="center"><b><?php echo $vbphrase['there_is_a_newer_vbulletin_version']; ?></b></td></tr><tr><td class="alt1" align="center">');
document.writeln('<p><b><a href="http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.ph' + 'p?postid=' + vb_announcementid + '" target="_blank">' + construct_phrase(latest_string, vb_version) + "</a></b></p>");
document.writeln('<p>' + construct_phrase(current_string, current_version.bold()) + '</p>');
document.writeln('<p><a href="http://www.vbulletin.com/members/" target="_blank">' + construct_phrase(download_string, vb_version.bold()) + '</a></p>');
document.writeln('</td></tr></table>');
}
//-->
</script>
and DELETE IT!
