mysql error #0

I checked on MySQL (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Error-handling.html) webpage and could not find this error #. Does anybody know what it means? I get about 30-40 of these emails per day.

You most probably exceeded the number of allowed connections. Check your config.php file and make sure persistent connections are off.

Ok, thx.

I checked and persistent connections were and still are set to OFF.

I haven't gotten any of the annoying emails since yesterday afternoon, any other suggestions on what to check?
