I've reviewed different bulletin board software, and found that vBulletin is the one to have. The only thing that is holding me back from purchasing vB is that I need to be able to do searches in Chinese. I've gone through the related posts concerning this issue on both vBulletin.com's forum and this one, but they don't seem to be very encouraging. I know there is a full-text modification(hack) that may work, but I don't seem to see any user saying that it does work.

Since the best vB offers for a trial is just the demo online, there is no way for me to be sure that it works with this modification unless I actually purchase a license. But I don't want to shell out $160, only to find out later that it just doesn't work with Chinese searches even with this modification. If you can give me some pointers, I appreciate them greatly. Thanks. E.

Well you can lease the license for a year for $85 dollars. That way if it doesnt work go to a different software, and if it does buy the lifetime license when your lease expires.

It is an issue with MySQL 4.0.X not vBulletin moreso. You would be best off asking on vBulletin.com when you do ill be sure to poke a developer towards you

Fulltext search hack does not fix the search problem in chinese. I just tried it.

The only working solution I've seen so far is a pirate hacked version from China.

Don't ask me for the URL, I am not using or endorsing it. I buy my software.
