I posted this question in a different vB forum/thread and they suggested I post here.
I saw a fix for this problem in another thread but it might have been for another version as I couldn't find the same code to fix in version 3.0.3.
The problem is, new registrants who have not yet confirmed their email are showing up and getting the "welcome newest member" message on the forum index page. How can I exclude them from getting that message until they've confirmed?
Thanks.

Not a bug, its really working as designed, You would need to run another query on the database or modify the query in the database to exclude users who are in the awaiting email conrfirmation usergroup.

Yes, that's exactly what I'd like to know how to do: modify the query to exclude those users. We sometimes have people who register with a phoney yahoo or hotmail eddress and they never confirm or post - in my mind, these folks are not members. They'll eventually get pruned if they don't activate their account with a valid eddress after a couple of weeks.
Thanks!

I've been trying to find the answer to this for several days now. You say you tried this yourself and it works? I added that query, but it might be a while before I see it in action.
Thanks again!
