Hi,

I need some sort of hack that is like the "confirmation hack" you can find here on vB.org and vBa.com.

I'm talking about the confirmation code you have to enter to show you are a licensed vB owner.

I need this hack so that some unregistered users can type in a code when they register and then automaticlly get transfered to another usergroup. The deafault on my site is "registered users" but I have a hidden forum just for 1 usergroup and I want the people that should be in that specific usergroup to be in that one just by typing in a password in a text box.

As it is now I have to manually change a user from one group to another.

Does this make any sense?

Thank you
Niklas

Just a guess, but I think it's all done with usergroups here.

yes i think so too, when u register you probably come to the "registered unconfirmed" usrgroup, but once u have shown you're a licensed user u get into another usergroup instead. My question is, what kind of hack do I need to have like that on my site?

that ain't seem so hard.
You can create a usergroup or rename your registered usergroup to Unlicensed one that has limited features and access on your board. Then create a db table that hold all license numbers. Once thelicense # entered is valid, it then upgrade the user to licensed group maybe.
I don't think i gonna need such mod thou cuz it's not any useful on my site.

Count me in!

I'm not even going to ask for the number to be verified against a database. I just want the primary usergroup to change when a number (or some data) is entered. Basically the same thing and for the same reason.

I'm having a tough time trying to figure this out.

It's weird that no one has done this before, isn't it?

I'm certain that someone has.

I found a thread and tried some code from it but with no luck. You can see what I tried here:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=73335

Hopefully someone happens along who knows how to do this -or- confirms that it is much more difficult than I think it should be.
