Insert Registrant Into Random Usergroup

I want to be able to place new members randomly into one of two groups. I found one hack already listed but it doesn't work. It also seems that there would be an easier way to do this. Does anyone know how?

I posted a fix for that one and it appears to be working perfectly now.
