hi,
I was told that e-mail a member on their birthday was already a defualt option in vb3.0.3....where do i enable/edit this?
Also, how can i allow only members to read threads? Guests can still see the forums/threads title and information but not read the content of the thread?
And one more thing. How do i go about searching for members with 0 posts that have registerd before xx-xx-xxxx ?
Thanks!

for the birthday emailing, i am guessing it will be enable/disable in vb options
allowing members to read threads and not guests should be able to be done by editing usergroup permissions

To find users with 0 posts that registered before xyz date - go to find users in your admincp and put in the criteria under the advanced options and that youd give you what your looking for.
Email to users on thier birthday is not a default feature I believe but a hack thats here on vb.org somewhere.

Emailing users on there birthday is automatically done providing they have entered their birthday in their profile. If they enter a birthday they get an email, if they don't then they don't. There isn't an option to turn it on or off.

There is a cron job, just remove it and you should be fine.

Yes, but that doesn't allow them to see the threads. I'd like them to be able to read the thread titles and see the threads but no the contents of the thread...

I'm not sure thats possible,. I did it to mine,I just want to compell guests to register, I tried to let them see thread titles, but what they can see is the number of posts and number of members at the bottom. The only thing I dont like, is it says never under the forums, I wish it would say register to view or something. ID almost like to go to school and learn this programming, its interesting as hell

To edit the message members get on their birthday... In the Language & Phrases menu, select "search in Phrases" enter "birthday" and click the radio button next to "Phrase Variable Name Only" then click "Find" ... in the results scroll down about halfway and find "Email Body Text Phrases Containing 'birthday'" edit that phrase and place the desired email message in the English (US) Translation box (a pain isn't it ;))
To Enable Guests to See Titles, but not read threads you need this hack:
