View Full Version : vBulletin to TYPO3 integration
Hi
Now I am working on vBulletin integration to most powerfull open source CMS
TYPO3 (www.typo3.com)
On the 1st stage I will make TYPO3 auth service (with "authentication service" extension http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/cc_sv_auth/ ) to authenticate vB-users as TYPO3 FrontEnd-users (with groups).
The goal - use vB-groups to restict access to TYPO3 pages.
Main problem - cookies and auto-login with cookies.
Thank you for any comments/ideas.

A very interesting project, I am very interested in a stable release .... maybe it's worth paying some money for a stable release ... !
Thanks.
I plan to have beta version to 15-12-2004.

Thanks, great job
Typo3 is brilliant and the only one what I still lacked, the integration of the vb3 was.
I hope soon a documentation is added.

vrom are you still working on this extension?
Hi!
My integration of VB3 into Typo3 is nearly complete.
I have a Typo3-Menu showing the complete forum-tree and using the vbulletin_auth-Extension makes it possible to log into typo3 using the VBulletin-Users !! Great!!!
The only Problem is the Single-Sign-On (take a look at http://www.single-signon.com). I just can't get it work.
Anyone out there who made it work? Would be really nice if someone could help me out...
Thx alot! And Bye

I tried both Typo and Mambo. The only one I have had any real progress with is Mambo. The userbase is completely dependant on Vbulletin, and content can be taken from the forums with no extra steps on the Mambo side.
And best of all, the cookies are written properly so that if a user is logged in via VB or Mambo, both sides are written at the same time.
For me. Typo was a nightmare getting the cookies to line up.

This is old extension, not developed for a long time (I think it is for old versions of TYPO3).
Now I consider to use Single-Sign-On for Assist Network (16 sites) including
www.typo3assist.com
http://forums.yourassist.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12
(This is working example of this TYPO3 to vBulletin integration)

Jep, it's quite old, but i just can't find another way to verify the user-accounts of VBulletin. Do you know another better way?
Do you use the sso from single-sign-on? I have big problems with it's implementation. Logging into both systems works already, but when one of the sessions is terminated (f.e. session-timeouts), the other system (in my case typo3) doesn't recognize that.
Would be really cool, if you could help me out. I'm going crazy....;)

No. On Assist Network I use vbulletin_auth ext

where can one get this intergration for Vbulletin with typo3 at. I really need a cms that I can use with my vb.
Look at latest variant of integration of vBulletin to TYPO3
http://lacascara.tv
1) user integration - I use only vBulletin users (TYPO3 FE-users are just copy for compatibility with existing TYPO3 code and extensions)
All user management is in vBulletin
2) users group integration - configured in PHP code
3) login box integration
4) design integration (header/foooter are generated by TYPO3 as HTML files and inserted in vBulletin)
5) "latest post" (simple PHP script to generate HTML file, that is inserted in TYPO3, this script runs on cron every 1 min)
More feachures (commenting like on www.sitepoint.com, configurable "latest posts") coming soon

I am reading all I can about Typo3 but I don't see what makes this the most powerful
CMS as claimed by your first post. I seems like a typical CMS to me.
