Note to Mods: Just been reading over a few pre-sales questions and realised how left out and 'un-enlightened' quite a few people are. Hopefully you won't delete or move this thread but sticky for people to read.

vBulletin from my experience is the best board available. Before changing to vBulletin I went through numerous paid and free boards including the more well known boards such as IPB & phpBB. I think in total I had installed and messed around with near 30 boards over 2 and a half months. Below is a quick question and answer I think people would like to know from a non-vB, vB related user with experience with a lot of bulletin boards.

Q. Why use vBulletin when there are plenty free ones available?
A. No other board is as flexible or robust as vbulletin. The features are un-comparable and the support along side the support communities (like here at vbulletin.org) are great too! You will also find a great amount of 'hacks' that are a lot easier to install than other boards.

Q. Is it really worth the 160$ investment?
A. Yes. You always have to pay for quality and perfection. You will probably find that all/most other boards, at least all the ones I tested we're trying to keep up with vBulletin, and not the other way round.

Q. Is there a 'hack' for **whatever it is here** ?
A. There most probably will be. If there isn't, you will always find someone willing to make it for you at the right price (sometimes free if the demand is high enough or they feel like it).

Q. Is vBulletin easy to use / setup to my own preferences?
A. Yes. It's also well documented over at vBulletin.com (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum) (Where you would purchase from) to help you understand what does :)

Q. Is the above just your view, or do other people share your opinions?
A. Many others share my opinions. A small testimonial thread can be found here (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105559). Also if you search the forums here and over at vBulletin.com (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum) you will find many comments alike the ones above.
