hi,

I'm looking for a hack that will send a "happy birthday" e-mail to any members having a birthday.

I searched for this hack but could only find one for vb2.x.x. Anyone know of one being developed or if one has already been released?

Thanks.

I haven't been able to find it either. It seems to default to ON. I keep getting thank-you messages from people, although I have no idea how to change it.

It would be very nice if they would document this feature. Any time communication with users is done, it should be documented somewhere as some boards might not want it. Say you're running a test forum. Someone reported receiving two HAPPY BDAY emails (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53135) for example, probably because someone forgot to turn it off on a test site.

Anyway, I found a little bit about it - it's on by default.

I have no idea if there is a template. I would be interested in seeing and modifying mine.

Matt

In your Phrase manager search for the word Birthday. The template for the email is in one of the phrases (not sure which one off the top of my head).

It is always a good idea to edit every email message your site sends out. Add a footer etc to them. Better branding practices.

Also, on a test site you should edit the options in the admincp to cease all emails from being sent. Its under VB Options --> Email Options

Thanks I will do that. I had been searching in templates. I agree with you 100% the problem is that this is an undocumented feature. Is my forum sending out any other undocumented emails? Boxing Day Greetings? Yom Kippur? Earth day?

;)
