Very Frustrated!

We just recently purchase vB even after we had used phpBB for a while. I am frustrated at the lack of SMTP authentication in vB. If I could have demo'd vB and seen how antiquated the mail feature is I would have never spent the money! Yes I know there is a hack that will allow you to use smtp w/ username and password but it does not do actual authentication! For an organization to have to send e-mail through a open relay server is absurd. If anybody has any solutions(other than going back to phpBB) I would be willing to try anything. This is not intended to a flame or derogitory to anybody or anything. I am just at the end of my rope.

I think we are supposed to see SMTP working 100% without a 'hack' in the next version.

That hack is the one I was speaking of above. That new version sounds great! Is there an ETA?

There is no eta at the moment, the dev's don't set them most of the time so there is not a backlash of moaning when a date is missed.
