Problems backing up vB Database

so i'm getting ready to upgrade, and mess around with 3.x a little bit before i do so.. but i'm having a bit of trouble getting my database backed up (mysqldump).

how long should it take? we let it run for almost 2 hours, and it still wasn't finishing..

i ran the database_conflicts script, and everything checked out ok. can anyone possibly shed some light as to what's going on? thanks in advance.

How big is your database?

Also, how did you try to backup your database? SSH or phpmyadmin?

It shoulda take long at all via SSH, are you doin ghti svia a webbrowser?
Could take a long time if its a huge database.
I would use a SSH Cleint
