View Full Version : Censor PM's & Emails ($$$)
Does anybody know of a hack that will allow me to sensor my members PM's and Emails (VB form)?
I'm getting a little tired of some posters either spamming current members with their business URL's or other sites URL's via the PM and Email system.
I would like to be able to re-direct the links when they add them.
I would like to control via the admin what links get re-directed.
Also the ability to exchange or censor text would be good :)
I'm happy to pay to have the hack coded and then release it back for all to use.
PM or email me if your interested.
Thanks!

If you're willing to pay, you'd be better off posting in the service requests forum.
What you might want to try though is a promotion.
Promote your users to a higher usergroup after they have made say 10 posts and only allow that higher usergroup to use the PM/Email features.
Thanks, I'll re-post this. I have thousands of members, so I need to leave the PM system as it is, just need to censor it :)

Then good luck :)
I just wanted to mention that I still think using additional usergroups, a promotion and adjusting some settings should be enough, but it's your call.

In the vein of Colin's suggestion... how about you have a usergroup for people with less than 'x' posts, which allows them to PM, but only 1 recipient at a time. Wouldn't this discourage spamming a large body of people?
Maybe it's something to start off with until the hack's been developed.

or you could just use NTLDR's hack which stops people with less than XX posts, posting url's :)
My problem is with some long time users. X posts, posting URL's etc does not help me. I need to apply this to all users to keep a level playing field.

OK, then I'll close this thread, as the request is posted in the Service Requests forum now (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=71784).
