View Full Version : Link Replacements in Posts

I'm think of making a new hack to allow us to add link replacements to member's posts. This would be a great feature because you could automatically link words in member's post to website relating to any keyword they enter. So if you had a game's site, you could link Sega to the Sega website.

Now the two exisiting replacement methods in the console don't suit this: Custom BB Code replacement changes htpp://www.mydomain.com to http://www\.mydomain\.com and replacement variables have the problem that they are case sensetive so Sega is different to sega and also if the name appears in the thread heading, it means when you click on the heading it goes to the link and not the thread!

Please let me know if this is something you think will be useful and also if you can help me to hack this together.

I imaging it would be a new section in the console, where you enter a non-case sensetive word and then the url of the link it goes to - then it just replaces the word with the link. Also maybe you could choose whether it opens in a new window or not, and whether it uses a bit of javascript to create a pop up window.

Cheers, Pigsy.

um on the non case sensative thing,

how about just creating custom bpcode for both Sega and sega ?

not sure about the rest of what you want though

I would be interested in this as well. Let me know if you have a hack for this.

Thanks.
