View Full Version : Navigation Menu
An image that will show in place of the foum-jump menu..
When clicked, it will open a menu (direction- Up/Left) Much like the Quick Links menu and then it will have a list of all the forum categories.
When a category is clicked, it will show either teh 'Forum Tools' and 'Search this Forum' (witch already exist above all threads in a category, so just need to place them there) OR subservers of that category, and when u click on a subserver u get the 'Forum Tools' and 'Search this Forum' links...
IMO this is a very usefull tool that would make everything much more easier for users and navigatios will be much faster..
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
RsX

Please don't bump your threads unless it is over 24 hours.
This is more than likely possible but I would need to sit down and figure it out first.

Right then before I start playing with the code I want to make sure that I've got you right here.
forum jump is to be removed
in it's lace is to become an image link to a menu.
This menu contains only the categories and not any forums
If you click the category and it has some forums it then extends to show these.
You then get a search forum link.
more like this..
Image to replace Forum Jump
Click it and see categories
Click a category and see forums within category
Click one of the forums & u get:
Forum Tools (Post new thread, mark this forum read,Subscribe to this forum, View parent forum)(you can find this option pre-made below the header when viewing a forum) AND Search Forum Options (Also found below the header when viewing threads..pre-made)
OR
If the forum has subforums, you get the sub-forum
Click on sub forum AND THEN u get what is listed above...
{Forum Tools (Post new thread, mark this forum read,Subscribe to this forum, View parent forum)(you can find this option pre-made below the header when viewing a forum) AND Search Forum Options (Also found below the header when viewing threads..pre-made)}

I think you could probably edit the navjump template from a drop down to a dhtml menu using an image as a background.
That wouldnt be possible because the menu extends and u need the VB style menu.. neways, this is what i want
more like this..

I've looked into it and to get the tools nessessary to work this out it is going to cost me in the region of $400. Now they could be used for an advanced navbar menu as well but at that sort of price it's not like $20 where you don't mind paying it out of your own pocket. Also I haven't got the time right now.
Oo what tools would u need?
i didnt got what you want to make...
like this..
Image to replace Forum Jump
Click it and see categories
Click a category and see forums within category
Click one of the forums & u get:
Forum Tools (Post new thread, mark this forum read,Subscribe to this forum, View parent forum)(you can find this option pre-made below the header when viewing a forum) AND Search Forum Options (Also found below the header when viewing threads..pre-made)

so whats you say is you want something like forumdisplay only without threads right ?
a menu that will show the forum categories.. click on a category to open a sub-menu of either the 'Forum Tools' and 'Search' buttons, just like in the forumdisplay, AND if there are subforums, the subforums are also listed, and when u click a subforum, it opens another subforum with the 'Forum Tools' and 'Search'
So is anyone please willing to make this? :/
so is anyone gonna go for it? :P
send me pm in hebrew maybe ill understand it better...
......... i will try to explain again... (i cant write heblew >.<)
An icon on the main page (index.php) that shows as part of the menu on the navbar called "Quicknav" or something.. When you press it, a menu opens, much like the "quick links" menu, and it shows the categories of the forums.... When you press a category, another submenu opens (like on windows, start menu>program files>ect..) The submenu shows the forums under the category... When you press a forum, another submenu will open, and it will show the "Forum Tools" and "Search This Forum" options in bold.. AND ALSO if there are SUBFORUMS it will show them also (not in bold) and when u click it, another submenu opens that has the "Forum Tools" and "Search This Forum" options.... (when you press forum tools or search this forum buttons, a sub-menu opens that shows that the search this forum and forum tools normally show in the forumdisplay)
erm..... so is anyone going to make it?
