After searching both this site and vbulletintemplates quite throughly, I still can't figure this one out:

Basically what I want is to have a link open a new window on my main forum. Example: I created a link to FlashChat by creating a new forum in the forum manager, and using the "link" function to point to it.

Here is my modified "forumhome_forumbit_level2_nopost" in which I have attempted to open it as a new window (forum id: 21 is the link to FlashChat):

<tr>
<td class="tcat"><span class="smallfont">&nbsp;</span></td>
<td class="tcat" colspan="<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">5<else />4</if>">

<if condition="$forum['link'] AND $forum['forumid']==21">
<a href="$forum[link]" target="_blank">$forum[title]</a>
<else />
<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]">$forum[title]</a>
</if>

<if condition="$show['forumdescription']"><div class="smallfont">$forum[description]</div></if>
<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
</td>
</tr>
$childforumbits

Here is my unmolested "forumhome_forumbit_level2_nopost":

<tr>
<td class="tcat"><span class="smallfont">&nbsp;</span></td>
<td class="tcat" colspan="<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">5<else />4</if>">
<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]">$forum[title]</a>
<if condition="$show['forumdescription']"><div class="smallfont">$forum[description]</div></if>
<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
</td>
</tr>
$childforumbits

What am I missing here :-(? Thanks!

are you sure you have to edit _nopost instead of _post?

it depends on allowing postin in a forum or not, and has nothing to do if a link is entered or not
(quite useless option for links in my eyes, but it's set up that way ^^)
