It'd be cool if at the top of the VB Hack release forums, you could have a box that shows links to the 5/10 'latest' hacks (latest threads that have been posted in essence). It would be easier than looking through each subforum for hacks we haven't yet seen, etc.
Would this be possible? Maybe it could be an expandable/collapsable box so that it doesnt get in the way too much...

Such a list is already on the portalpage, why not use that one? :)

shame on you ^^
I agree that this has been a very useful part of the portal page, and I rely on it a lot -- but it's limited to so few hacks. Sometimes I don't visit vB.org for a couple of weeks (shameful, I know!) and thus I miss some new additions.
Which reminds me of the aspect of the old Hacks Database that I miss most -- the ability to search for the most recently added hacks, sorted chronologically. Unfortunately, vB3 doesn't have a "sort by date of thread creation" option in its search page or the dropdown "sort" box at the bottom of the thread display page.
But since this info can be pulled for the portal, there must be a way to utilize this capability to list the hacks chronologically by add date. Would you guys consider adding a link that lets us see all hacks sorted chronologically by add date, not just limited to eight or so recent additions?
(Oy, I'm babbling. Did this post make ANY sense?)

I'd rather thread creation date be added for search/forumdisplay myself.

sort by thread creation shouldn't be such a problem i think, just adding a new sorting option and changing a few lines in search.php
maybe i'll write that hack myself, or someone might be faster ^^

Actually, Thread Start Date is already an option for search.php, just not for forumdisplay.php.
Yay! That sounds terrific, I hope you get a chance to implement it, Xenon! It would be extremely useful. Thanks! :)
