i get this error:

Error. vbchat.xml located in directory '' was not found. Please make sure it is uploaded then press the submit button below

during installation. what have i done wrong. the only file with that name is supposed to be in the admincp folder.

I get this error when trying to Import the vbchat.xml from the admincp folder (because I didnt see a product file elsewhere) via the Product Manager:

"Invalid File Specified"

What am I doing wrong?

I get this error when I tried importing the product.
Database error in vBulletin 3.5.4:

Invalid SQL:

MySQL Error : Duplicate column name 'vbchat_pref_font_face'
Error Number : 1060

This is following the text instructions and I get this error. Does anyone know how I can fix it? I dont even know why its giving this error because font_face is not even duplicating itself anywhere in the xml script.

I tried re installing it on my 3.6.0 and some of the templates must have changed because the admincp/index.php is totaly diffrent.. when you are trying to find and add the codeing for this vbchat.

would love to see it upgraded for the 3.6.0 there is nothing out there as far as decent chat rooms at this point..

Is there any way of admins being able to sort the users into groups, or give them a certain coloured username? What I'm looking for is a chat script that would support team quizzes (for example, red team vs blue team). And also, I'd like a command which would prevent the users' messages from going through (for example when I'm trying to explain the rules).

For the guy who's having the database error when he tries to install, you've got to go into PHPMyAdmin, search for vbchat, and delete the instances.
There's probably a couple tables you'll want to drop with the vbchat_ prefix.

Then, once you've done that, go into the user table, and drop the vbchat_ columns.

If you can't figure out how to do that, you're pretty much SOL.

Ive ran the very first version you came out with what seems to be an eternity ;) I installed it just a while after you uploaded it here for version 3.06 or 3.07, it didnt work for me at that time. I went to that other chat software.
I have been keeping an eye on the advancements you made and you have made VBchat into an awsum product. I am going to be trying it when I upgrade one of my forums from 3.06 to 3.2.0. if the version is avail.

Gotta give thanks to you for sticking with something as long as you have and the changes you have made over the time. it looks very nice.

Habe die Shoubox 2.1 auch weggeschmissen da ich kein einziger Umlaut schreiben konnte. Auch hat keiner bis jetzt dieses Problem l?sen k?nnen.

I've uploaded the file to the "ROOT FORUM DIRECTORY/admincp" as said in the install instructions, 4 times. Yet i still get the same error.

Seeing as how this MOD will not work for me, I deleted all of the install files. When I go to uninstall product-vBChat.xml, I get the following:

You can uninstall this.

Install all files new. Overwrite product-xml.

If the Chat does not go. uninstall produkt-xml than all other files. not in reverse

I followed the instructions that were mentioned earlier here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=609415&postcount=605) about deleting all the appropriate tables & sections within the User table, but I still get this problem. Any idea on how to solve this, please?

Also, can anybody tell me how to *delete* templates? The only thing I didn't do is delete the vbchat-related templates. Could that cause the aforementioned problem?

OK, I tried to install this as well, and get the same errors the others get. I also tried to upload it as a plugin, but was told (in the AdminCP) that it was a product, and not a plug in. It looks like I will have a difficult time uninstalling it, so I will leave it the way it is.

Has anyone gotten it to work with the original files and instructions? It seems straightforward, but won't work. I have 3.6.4. Is there any support for this product still available?

I get this too..... I even hard coded the path in the install file and it still says it can't find it.

Go in your ACP >Plugin&Producte< Productupload and Import product-vBChat.xml from your pc

Tried it and still a no go.

Awesome. I was able to get installed on my 3.6.5 forums. Everything works. Except when I change options I now get a small 80 x 80 blank box that opens up. I can close it, and vBChat works flawlessly. Just kind of an annoyance.

so it doesn't find the required files to install. I changed the name inside the installation file but still get this:

so what now?

I tried posting in the support forums but it wouldn't allow me to post so I hope someone here can help out.

loaded the upload files to the right place ...... when installing says unable to find .xml in directory" ...... even though it is uploaded to the admincp dir .....

Im running 3.6.7 and I also have vbShout pro version installed (which btw is the absolute nuts) ....

any idea's ???

Same problem here (vb 3.6.6). I got around the vbchat.xml problem by copying it from admincp to the forum root, but still get 'invalid_or_empty_style_file'. Pity, this mod looks really promising

I do not believe that this hack is for vB 3.6.x. At least it doesn't say so in the description of the hack above.

Yeah stupid me, it does say it's for VB 3.0, and the mod was last updated 2005.

So the next question is obviously, what's a good alternative? I'm aware of 'flashchat' which intergrates to some degree with VB, but I've never been that keen on it

I have vBulletin 3.6.5, with vBChat, and it is running fine.

I installed this version of the script (given by Cornie):

Now i would like to upgrade to 3.6.8 ... but i am afraid vBchat won't work.... really don't know.

Same here. Once installed, I did search & replace on the german phrases using a free online german-english translator.

How can I hack vbChat to make it open in some default-sized window instead of the maximized window that it always opens?

EDIT: Found it. The navbar template has javascript that opens screen height and screen width. I changed the dimensions there. Googled javascript window.open for syntax.

I had the same problem with my 3.6.7 PL1! I upload the file "vbchat.xml" to the root directory ..... after that i get a message "invalid_or ...... phrase not found"

i got this working on my 3.6.8 board for a moment, then i realized i forgot to upload the english version of cornie's file and when i did that i get nothing but a database error now

The problem with emoticons right now is solved.

But I stick at the problem of the letter ñ and written accents.

I have downloaded vbchat 2.3 and i uploaded all files as indicated in the right folders but when i try to install i receive the error:
Vbchat located in directory " was not found (...)

but the xml file is there..

could some one help me?

I get the same error. Even if I hard code

On line 149 of the install file, it just gives me the error of "Could not find phrase 'invalid_or_empty_style_file'."

i try to install vbchat 2.3 and i have problem during installation
i have correctly uploaded the files like the vBChat 2.3 Installation (FRESH).txt says

I've got the same problem. I'm guessing since this addon is no longer supported, we won't be getting a fix for it for versions 3.6+ (I'm running 3.7.2). I looked through the support forum, but the last post was made in 2006. So... anyone have ideas for alternatives? Is Flashchat still our only alternative?
