I'd like to request a mod that allows people to compose replies or new threads, and then save these replies for posting later on. My community has a lot of very long posts, and though most are composed in programs like MS Word, it would be really handy to save posts for later.

I was thinking that something that did the following would work great for me

-- Reply Page / New Post Page
A new button, 'Save as Draft'.

-- User CP
A new section, 'Saved Drafts' Allows you to review saved replies, edit them, and save again or post them to their new thread, or the existing thread.

-- Admin CP
Turn function on and off globally, turn function on and off per-usergroup, turn function on and off per-user. Edit how many saved replies per person, edit capability to save replies and/or threads globally, per usergroup, and per user.

That would be a cool hack IMHO!

I understand the "cool" factor I guess (more useful for PMs or email I'd say - like gmail), but is something like this really needed for posts?

I have it in my email, but for posts and or new threads, this would be Paris Hilton HOT. Tough to code up?

Depends on how tough you think tough is :P

It's definantly a strange idea... don't ask me why I'm trying it. :P

I'm so sloppy at code.

P.S. It's not working yet... well, the editing the saved draft part at least...

did I mention it was sloppy? ;)

EDIT: This is only for posts... at least, for now.

EDIT2: and the location of the draft thingy is http://tektek.org/forum/draft.php since I forgot I have no links to it~

Not too much progress~ (darn school!)

This is still wanted... right? It can be altered differently later if people don't like how it's set up too. This is just a lazy "view em" kinda mode...

BUMP!

Testing it out, looks pretty cool! Should be able to access drafts from userCP? Maybe remove buttons on left and make them regular links? I dunno

I haven't added in editing them, and of course it would be normal to have links to get to the drafts in normal places (PM drafts link in UserCP/PMs, Post Reply drafts in newreply template).

Yes please!

Please continue to develop this, I think it's a FANTASTIC idea and should be part of VB right off the bat.

Ever logged into your test board and back to your live board and had one cookie kill the other, then you compose something in and open window and click submit and BAM, it's all lost because you havn't re-logged in again to get the new cookie issued. What a pain this would remove.

Please keep at it!
