Muliple Rank Sets

I'm looking for a hack that allows you to make multiple rank sets.

For a simple example, a user can choose..."Plant" or "Animal" category.

The rank images (stars or whatever) will correspond to whichever category he picked. For example, if a plant user has 10 posts, it will show a maple leaf, but a 10 post animal user will show a cat or something.

So different images corresponding to different categories at the same post counts.

It would be easy for the admin modify rank page..
10 posts: ____________ (url for plant category) ____________ (url for animal)
50 posts: ____________ (url for plant category) ____________ (url for animal)

you can do this by creating usergroups for each;)

Creating usergroups is a hard way to do it though..since you would have to assign people manually and such. I don't think people can change their own usergroup? Can't someone find a way to allow rank sets based on a profile field or something?

there was a hack made for vb2.X which LoB made. i know LoB and have already asked him if he could help me convert it to vb3 but i've not seen him for a while

that said i've done one with public seletable usergroups.

They way i did was for the image paths for the ranks in the admincp i put say xxx.jpg

Then i edited the templated and did something like this

<img src="/images/ranks/$bbuserinfo[styleid]/$vb.ranks.var.from.admincp">


I'm sure its the wrong var names but i'm super tired and don't feel like loggin into my admincp to get it ;p


It works great. Only down side is you can't see the ranks in the admincp they will show up as broken images.
