I've done several searches and can't find anythin on this one. Has anyone ever seen a vb3 mod/hack that would let posters Paste an image in a post. Like a pasting a screenshot in Word or Outlook? Using the URL or IMG tags can be a bit cumbersome.
Thanks,
j

Not sure what you mean - vB's built-in attachmentsystem lets you attach files from your PC
Are you talking about drag & drop?
Confused!

I want my users to be able to copy a picture, via a screen shot software product, and then paste at curser inside post just like in a Word doc or Outlook email.
Uploading a image, is a bit cumbersome for my users and for what I want do.
I want copy - paste, and write comments about the image to be a easy non BB expert process.

As far as I know you can do that in the WYSIWYG editor, using Internet Explorer.

It allows you to hotlink, but you cannot directly paste a picture into the wysiwyg and expect it to work just like MS Word, as world is an external non webbased program. The wysiwyg is limited to html and the browser

I think he means like pasting a picture of say, your desktop that you just took a screenshot of won't work because its not hosted.

Yes you hotlinked it, which the wysiwyg recgonizes, thats not pasting a picture like word does, word copys the picture bit for bit and saves it inside of the word document, if vBulletin changes the logo, your post's picture will change, but if you did the same in word and changed the source file it would not change.

I don't know why that is different... it's essentially also just an image that was copied into the clipboard...
Then again, there may be some issues with the filesize...

OK, that makes sense. Which would make my above post irrelevent as well...
Thanks!

Colin F,
I see no picture, just a link.
I suppose we'll need to do some radical redesign to the way the vBuletin posting window works...

Like Zachery said, a picture can be copied into the field, but what *actually* is copied is the link. So if the picture isn't on the internet, it can't be inserted.

So I assume a hack to allow users to simply copy and paste an image into the WYSIWYG window is pretty much impossible? If not and someone has an idea on how to accomplish such a hack, please contact me.

I am about to give up on this idea. Anyone, have any ideas? I am willing to pay for this mod if someone has a clue on how to make it happen. Accomplishing this is mission critical to what I am trying to do. If it is impossible, that information would be helpful also.

Someone recently PM'd me asking if we ever figured out a solutions to this. Nope never did.
We hired a firm on RAC that assured us they could do it but they failed and the project died on the vine. This was a critical success factor to the forum we were trying to build so we put it on hold until the technology caught up, as far as I know it still hasn't.
I can't believe 4 years have past - time flies.
