WE currently have an admin under fire at our forum, someone has claimed this person as an admin, can go through peoples pm boxes with the bulletin Version 3.0.3

The admin is denying it, but the other mods say he can, some info would be helpful. thank you.

Sorry i was avuing trouble posting, if this is the wrong section, sorry and please move it to the correct section, thankyou.

Yes Admins can view members PMs if they have the hack installed. Or they can go into the database using phpmyadmin to view members PMs. There is nothing private about private messages on vb.

While its possible that does not mean its right to do so unless there is a very specific reason such as user harrasment or perhaps conspiricy to hack the site O.o.

Anyway good luck with whats going on.

Another qeastion, do you need this addon for vBulletin Version 3.0.3 or can the admin of the website freely go through peoples pm's.

Well, as long as he has direct acces to the db (and as admin he should) he can always read members pms.

The addon just makes it more comfortable, but it is not needed, he can also look directly into the db.

DB stands for database? The admin of the site does not own it, but he is a admin still the less, all admins can access data bases?

This is a transcript.

Yeah, I was just going to say that was in older versions of Vbulletin, but I really don't think that that's a feature that would change in newer versions, in fact, those kind gentleman at vbulletin.org said that PMs are private unless you install a hack or access the database.

Only Mike could install the hack because only he has access to the server, (we know this cuz Bart can't upload his gore vids to the GG server, the ones that got banned at NTL), so Bart can upload or install any mods to vbulletin... and I doubt Mike would allow it to be installed.

As for seeing the database, Bart would need username and passwords to get access to the database on the server, which Mike would have no need to give Bart.

Sorry but you are asking questions that can only be answered when posed by the license holder. All that I can say is that it is possible (and easy) to browser users' private messages through direct access through the database, but not through vBulletin itself.
