How do I see who has installed a hack (only really interested in mine).

If someone posts in the thread, then it tells you on their post, but if they don't post then I can't seem to find any way of telling.

Thats not shown, as it could pose a security risk if a bug turned up. Sorry :)

If you're the author of the modification then you can see who's installed it. Otherwise you cannot :)

It'll say next to their name in the thread if they have installed it :)

If someone posts in the thread, then it tells you on their post, but if they don't post then I can't seem to find any way of telling. How do I find those who haven't posted, but have installed.

(and why does that show up as red, when I specified Color=Navy ????)

Because vB.org's administration have chosene to have all colors showup the same on specific styles :)

Oh ok Paul, go to the main threads listing. Find your modification, and in the replycount column click the number. It'll show you who's installed :)

That shows who posted.. not who installed. ;)

Hmm you're right. It used to show who installed :disappointed:

Hmm you're right. It used to show who installed :disappointed:So I take it the conclusion is you cannot see who has installed your hacks. Seems a bit of an oversight to me :(

I'm sure when Stefan sees it he'll add it to his to-do list :)

Nope i won't.

As we already said, it won't be displayed to the public who has installed a hack or not.
so it would be an author only feature.

The author can already see who has installed a hack when the person replies to the thread.
If a person replies to the thread, it means, that he also doesn'thave a problem when someone knows he has that hack installed.

But some people don't want other users to know which hacks they have installed, and so we will leave it the way it is now.

...which is (in more words) what I said in the second post of this thread :)

I feel kind of overlooked ;)

I was assuming that the author of this thread only wanted to see the users who installed his hack also?

@Colinf: Hehe, we are watching you carefully, but i looked like an official statement was needed here ;)

I don't care about other peoples.

Jesus, its very simple. The Author of the hack can see who installed only if they post in the thread you started. vb.org will not show a list of who installed due to sercury reasons. And thats the way it will stay. So people will just have to live with it.

I don't see a problem in showing modification authors who installed their modifications in a list though?

Dean C does have a point ... for secrity reasons .. someone wouldn't hit the Install button if they didn't want people 2 know they insatlled it ... but hey who am I? I am just lil old me hehe

No I. If there happens to be a exploite in the hack, or any type of injection. That would leave me and anyone else who has added the hack venerable to the author. I would highly suggest not to do this. But thats just my $0.02.

I highly doubt that modification authors are going to go on a hacking rampage against those who installed their modification. Also, if they really wanted all they have to do is see who replied and if they installed or not :)

You highly doubt but you never know.

@Paul: i was talking about the authors as well.

As i said already, nope we won't change it, we've decided to do it this way after we implemented the main features during the vb3 upgrade here.
I think most of the users hare are fine with the compromis we've set up.

And i say compromis because we have some who'd like to see noone if they have installed a hack or not, not even the author when replying, and we have those who want it to be seen publically.
