Choose avatar at registration

Am I being stupid - can't seem to find any way of allowing users to choose an avatar during their registration (either option or hack).

Is this available/possible?

He just provided a link, it's not his addon to upgrade. Why don't you try installing it on 3.8.... just because the version says something different doesn't mean it won't work or can't be tweaked to work. Be sure to see page 3 as it deals with some changes as well..,
