Template Modification Inclusion Criteria

Hey,

What exactly is the criteria for a Template mod to be included here?


As there seems to be some confussion as to what is allowed and what is not I'll clear it up:

* PHP Include hacks/modifications are allowed, and should normally go in the mini-mods forum as they are adding PHP Code.
* Hacks or addons with additional PHP files included or those which make one or more edits to standard vBulletin files.
* Template modifications that add a new level of functionality to vBulletin through the use of conditionals and PHP Include system.

(Also, that should really be 'confusion')

It's the last one that is apparently ambiguous.

I read it as 'a template modification must at least include modification to the PHP Include template and the use of conditionals'.

Does a modification that has no changes to PHP files or PHP Include template, but involves conditionals in some way meet the criteria to be released at vb.org, or must it be released at vbt?

I was always under the impresstion that if it did not require changing the php code in the files then it was to be released at vBt. However as you can see what you quoted kind of blurs the lines ;)

You'll have to wait on the staff to confirm this for you. With any luck it will be much easier on everyone soon. :)

General Rule : If it does not change a .php file, it should be released in vbulletintemplates.com, not in our site.

Exception : If it does not change a .php file and can be applied via a template modification BUT if it is more than a HTML implementation and involves "coding" skills and algorithms, then it is allowed here.

Example: "PHPINCLUDE" template of vbulletin is a special template which parses directly PHP code. So you can even run an independent PHP script that consists of hundreds of lines of code in that template but that implementation wouldn't be labelled as "template modification" although it does not change any .php files. Even if it can be applied via admin cp/template management section, it would technically still be a "hack". Such modifications are allowed in vb.org.

(PHPinclude template mod above is just an example here. I don't mean only modifications in that template is considered as hacks, nor mean every modification in that template is considered as hack.)

I know this can be a bit confusing as it is highly related to the structures of coding but don't mind it too much. If in doubt, ask a moderator and we will let you know if it should be released in vbT.com or in vb.org. :)
