Does anyone else get this?

I've had 2 people email me asking me to send them the RPG hack via email
I assume this would be illegal due to the license requirement to access code changes, right?
I replied with no both times, but today I got another (third) email asking for the RPG hack..again.,

You can turn off the option "Receive Email from Other Members" in the UserCP.

What might also help is setting "Unlicensed users can see optional info (hp, aim, icq)?" to No, but I don't think that applies to email...

Thanks for that, I didn't realise I had that option ticked

people that require to have the hack via email are kids that are not licensed, it is as simple as that... you just haveto forget them... (or suggest them to register a license)

Or ask for their forums URL, and report it ;)

Wrong, if you wrote a hack you can send it to anyone in the world, don't matter if they have a license or not. As long as you don't send them the acually vBulletin forum. Or a hack you didn't write.

you are also not allowed to send em hacks you didn't write yourself.

I think they were implying they couldn't get onto the site. The Chinese connection to the internet isn't the same as people in Europe and US are used to - they access it via proxies and therefor many thousands of sites are denied to them due to government censorship.

Yes but vBulletin.com is hosted on the same box, how did they access vBulletin.com members area and download the zip in the first place? ;)

yup thats true. that just gives us a hint, that the person is not using a lisenced version of vb and now he is asking others to get him hacks.

They probably got it off of IRC or something.

sorry for bringing this topic back to life after a month, but i have recently recieaved an email from a member that just joined asking for a hack with the best excuse ever i cant download.

I go to his website but he doesnt have vbulletin he uses phpbb, tough lost right their to get him reported.

so a good suggestion for vb.org to make is the email options should be only seen to lisenced people instead of non lisenced as well since i did notice unlisenced people cant see aim, icq, msn etc.. but why not email as well?

Well, unlicensed users (as well as licensed users) don't see your email.
They can just use the build in email a member feature.

Maybe we have to disable that.
