View Full Version : Bracket Standings Competition Hack

I have a comic book based site, but this could work for sports site too.
I'd like to see a hack (integrated with vBadvanced CMPS) where you could enter characters or teams in a versus style, have the outcome decided by a poll (useful for members voting on a victor, i.e. Superman vs Green Lantern, etc) or manual entry (in the case of sporting events) and have the victor move on to the round of eliminations, and continue until you have a winner for the entire competition. You could then announce the winner.
What I'm thinking is like the NCAA bracket standings similiar to the attachment below except that you would obviously input the teams/characters instead of writing them in with a pen. When a winner is decided at each match up they move on to the next elimination round.
I hope I made what I'm asking for clear, I feel like I haven't explained it as well as I wanted to.
Warlord,
Not vB3 integrated or anything but I can highly recommend the following software for setting up pools/tournament brackets:
http://www.turbotourney.com
I've been using it for around 5 years now and it's worked great!
Cheers,
~Regs.

Thanks a load Regs.. I may use this if nothing else pans out, but I've been paying enough for things lately, lol.
So, anyone up for making a hack like this for vBulletin?

Have you looked at vBPool? You can view it here (http://www.sportsrant.com/forums/vbpool.php). It is fully integrated into vb 3.0. I am currently working on the installer for it now...

Maybe if I bump this enough times, someone will get sick of me bumping it and make it just to shut me up. :p

Well I'm putting this in the Paid Requests forum. Depending on the price of the bids, to anyone who is interested in the release of this hack, I would appreciate any financial help you could bring to pay for this hack.

No...not even close. Did you go to the link I posted? Obviously not...I would suggest you do and stop with the bumps as most will ignore you and not do the hack just to shut you up as you had stated...

Calm your ass DW, I did visit the link, but I didn't explore the site in it's entirety. And I'm teaching myself php and sql so I'll write it myself.
