Yes. Anything that gets covered with 'url' tags will start off with 'http://www.anonym.to/?' which will make you go anonymously to the link you just clicked. You can try it by going to: http://privacy.net/analyze/ without the hack installed. Install the hack and see what happens after.

Yeah they won't know but anonym.to will... so how is that more secure?
Who is anonym.to?

Nothing is completly anonymous. If you don't want other websites to see you as a referrer, use this hack.
Your right Geographic2, but like intergra99 said, nothing is copletly anonymous. the best way would still be to disable 'url' but it would annoy members.

Why would someone want to hide where they came from?

Why would someone want to hide where they came from? Whilst visiting sites of inappropriate nature. Is the only good reason I get for this hack *lol*.
Otherwise still a small but useful mod.

Did you see the black screen with it saying were you were going after you would use the link? Remember, this is only for threads and posts. Not for your own links you make for the forum.

no black at all
and I understand what kind of links
I posted a test thread putting a link in the thread then I clicked it
I posted the link normaly and also posted it via bbcode
and tried both, no different than doing it without the hack,, that site still says which site and thread ID where I came from

Well, tonight oddly I checked the same link again.. ( I did not change anything since yesterday) and sure enough.. I got the black screen (so quick I couldn't even read 1 word in it :) ) and sure thing, the site did not tell me where I was coming from
but also noticed I am using proxy now (forgot I did)
so I am not sure whats going on.. I will remove the proxy and use my real IP and try again later
laterz :)

Good hack. Anyone know of another service that does this without the black page? I'm afraid my users would freak if they saw this. Esp with all the parasiteware stuff out there.

it sure works now.. no idea why it didn't at first, but left it as it is for a day and next day it was working.. could be cach or whatever
great
now I second the concern above, that black page and also in german I think is a bit of a concern
this is the link I created in my post and once you click it, you get the black page with this line
Sie werden in einer Sekunde zu http://privacy.net/analyze/ weitergeleitet.

By the way: The first service which had offered this kind of service was safeurl.de - created by myself. In fact, there is nothing speciel behind it - it is a simple redirect which blocks the refererer. I remember that many porn and warez sites like safeurl :D
After all I sold safeurl a year ago...

Why would someone want to hide where they came from?
Because some sites may want to keep competitor sites from knowing they are there when members link to those sites.
Great job for finding this!

or maybe the place they are coming from i.e. the referer is an underground website.
Are people unaware of these sites? ha
ignorance is bliss lol

Don't panic, the anonym.to redirector is up and running, there will be no changes.
The "for sale" message was caused by small bug which has been solved. Sorry for your inconveniences.
After I applied the latest fix, I now get this in upper left corner:
return "$text";

I guess you can go back to anonym if you want. It seams to be working now.
Made a new update. Now you have 2 places to choose from.

Is a meta refresh link.
I made long time ago a little hack for this too.
But i use my own php link redirect.
This is the code of the "link.php":
<?
foreach ($_GET as $key => $value) {
$site .= $key."=".$value."&";
}
$site = substr($site, 4, -1); // returns "http://www.elantro.cl" without &out and all variables intact
?>
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>ElAntro.cl : redireccionando...</TITLE>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1; URL=<? echo $site; ?>">
</HEAD>
<body>
<br><br><center>
Redireccionando a:<br><b><i> <? echo $site; ?></i></b></center>
</body>
</HTML>
Then, i simply link this file (link.php) into the includes/functions_bbcodeparse.php like this:
return "<a href=\"http://www.elantro.cl/link.php?url=$rightlink\" target=\"_blank\">$text</a>";
That's all.
No refer and you own link.php.
Now simply customize the page (link.php) for you own site.
