Would it be possible to allow the system to use avatar files with php? So people who know how could have random avatars?

vb3 has this built-in, you can test it by using random avatars in this site vb.org
this can be disabled via ACP --> disable dynamic images.

Dynamic images are enabled, but this still doesn't work. It will not allow me to upload or link to an offsite php file (to pick random avatars). It says "Must be valid gif, jpg, or png."

hmm weird, maybe this does need a hack.

Well I think it'd have to first of all be a remote link; instead of uploading to the server.
No you would need to hack it. There is a reason you don't allow scripts in you members sig's and avatars, because these could be used to exploit your security. There is a unlimited amount of damage someone with the right know how can do to your forum with something like this enabled.
Highly un-advised, but if you still want the code I can track it down for you.

I don't suppose there's a way one could hard code it simply for the admin? lol

I don't think you can only allow dynamic image for admin, it would need a hack

I'm not talking about the dynamic imaging part, just the avatar.php part. :)
