I would like to pay someone to convert my YaBB board with approx. 6000 members and 12000 posts to vBulletin. Is anyone willing to do this for me? How much would it cost? Please email me.
Thank you,
zylstra

Sorry but you must own or lease a vBulletin license before you can formally request a service. Once you have a legal license you may post in the Request a Service forum.

But how can I know if I want to buy vBulletin without knowing how much it is going to cost to convert it?
Thanks,

From your post it seemed like you wanted private contacts on the matter ("please e-mail me"). Sorry for the confusion.

I don't necessarily want private contacts. They can post to this forum as well. What was your confusion? I don't understand.
Thanks,

You said "please e-mail me" which usually implies you want to be contacted privately, not publicly.

If this is the PERL edition of YaBB, you might want to contact Jerry at vBulletin.com, as such a converter is to be developed, and he needs test data.
This means, your forum will probably be converted for free as well as professionally (by a vBulletin Developer).

I did this a year or two ago. If I remember there exists a yabb gold->phpbb import tool, which was the first step, and there was a phpbb->vB2.x tool, which was step 4. In between were a group of queries that needed to be run to adjust the italics and bolded text back to readable bbcode (step 3) and another query to rewrite the path to the photo attachments that I stuffed all into a single directory. It was like a bad dream, but it worked.
The only thing I wasn't able to accomplish was to preserve the passwords, because of the way the encoding was done. I did get the users in, they just needed to request new passwords. So I sent them all a mass email when it was ready.
There was a user called beheader that paved the way, I just followed in his footsteps with the queries and image handling stuff.
Good luck - you'll be very happy once you're running under php & mysql!
Regards,
Matt

Here's the link to all of my stumbling blocks during the conversion process: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117435 .
Hope it helps everyone else who does this conversion.
Ciao!
