New registration to other than usergour2

Hello,

I want new users to be in a "new user group" other than the default usergroup2
automaticly ofcourse I don't want to moderatre new members

if thats not easy how can I move all users in group 2 to another group with one shot.. I don't wanna move them one by one

reason of this is I want anyone when they register they can post/reply but will be moderated.. and that can be done with group permissions as we know

once they seem to be ok, they can be moved to a regular group

if I mass move all users in grouID2 into a new custom group with group2 permissions would that cause any problems?

this is what I am planning to do without hacking the board,

just mass move all that in group2 into group10 and make posts moderated for group2

so when someone registers they endup in group2 as it should be and they can't post directly...

would that work?

What about using the promotions system to move users from group x to group y after z amount of posts. x would be moderated, y would not.

That would be great alt. way to it but alot of good members have 0 or very low post count and will probably remain so.. and that just won't help me

this site is being targeted and I am asked to help clean it.. twice now in 2 weeks this jerk comes and posts over 400 posts of trash in all forums and what he was doing on top of that was adding a code at the buttom of his posts using bbcode and as soon you read the post you are logged out :) so noone including the admin could delete them (it was phpbb)
