You should only show ADMIN TOOLS to users who can use them ... I was just in the BETA RELEASES forum and they are visible.
Another thing ... why NOT let us upload duplicate images?
I wanted to upload an image for a hack and it will not let me upload 'cause it was already uploaded into a previous hack.
It was a "no permissions" image - and you know that doesn't change. --- But, everybody loves images - they "NEED to see the hack" at play.
I had to resize the image just so that I could upload (changing the name didn't help).

The admin tools dropdown is probably just a bug Stefan missed. As far as the attachments scenario I didn't quite understand. Can you run through the exact problem your having from start to finish please :)?

If it's the same image, why not just link the other image?
Works just as well...
I always thought admin options where avaiable to regular users in the beta forums so they could move their beta hacks to the full release forum. Used to be we had permissions, but they only worked in threads we posted.

Beta Releases can be closed by their authors, and therefore the admin utils should be visible ;)

Why not just make the OPEN/CLOSE option visible?

Regards,
- Dean I uploaded a few images to a previous hack. (hack A)
I uploaded a few images to a new hack. (hack B)
One of the images in hack B is the same as hack A. Thus, I just reuploaded the same image.
The system (is working as it should per your settings) does not allow me to upload duplicate images.
I don't want to link to the image 'cause it will either show as a link or will display the original image (size) while the other images will display as thumbnail.
If the system was setup so that you can reuse images (already uploaded) problem would be solved.

Yeah but if we store attachments as files (which i'm guessing we do if this is the case) then you wouldn't want to upload the files over each other as mods would get overwritten. I don't know the whole scenario so we'll have to wait and see what Stefan says :)

as far as I know, uploading a duplicate will not replace an existing image/file

You may want to ask that the vb devs over at vb.com
We haven't hacked that section, just used the normal permission system, so it's actually vb3 default to do it that way.
as for the attachments: i've now allowed duplicated images

Why don't you use conditionals and remove/disable the other functions?

actually because i don't want to change too much, regarding the easily upgradeability of vb.org
But as said already, that's a design issue of the vb devs, so when they will change it, i'm more than happy :)
