this is integrated in the Threaded Display system, so if you use it, you will have these linkback enabled... by default, there is no linkback because it's not the goal of the non-thread display.

btw, i would suggest you to ask for a username change, because yours may look confusing... isn't it your member number from the registration ?!

The hack referenced from WetWired is meant to be used for Linear mode. You can use the URL that WetWired's hack makes available, $post[re_url], to output links instead of plain text.

The attachment in his/her post named regardinghack.txt shows you how to use this variable. Look at the template snippet at the end of that file.
