This modification adds a donation bar graph page to your forums. In the admincp you enter the current amount of donations recieved so far, and the total of donations you would like to recieve. The graph shows the percent recieved so far.
Also, you can enter the script for your paypal button or other payment buttons and add it to the page from the admincp. This also allows you to add a reason why people should donate to your community.

thanks, I have more plans for it, user comments, show those who have donated with avatar, (reasons for the guests visible feature), but I need to work out how to create the template to make look better and more uniform.

I would think so, automatic, or you fill in the date and time?

In the admin panel it says "current total of donations and donations goals" is that in whole dollars.

EG. 100 = $100

So current could be 0 to start off and if your fee's are $100 the goal is 100?

And is this a continous figure until it reaches its goal, a month to month or once you hit your target you have to manually edit the current total back to zero and start again.

You should play with the template settings. If you're using the standard vB template it will work fine. I also have 5 other templates installed and it works perfectly fine for them all ( only had to modify 2 of them slightly to work correctly. )

It would be nice to have this tied to the number of members within a certain usergroup as many of us have a custom group set up for paying members ie: a graph showing 187 subscribing or "sponsor" members with a set goal of 400. I do like the idea though.

EG. 100 = $100

you can have/use cents if you want, ie $100.50 It will end up with something like 10.05%

correct

totally up to you. Once you reach your total/goal, change "current total of donations" back to 0 and start over. Basicly it's all manually handled right now. I made this for a site I'm an admin at. Only basic features were needed.
Since other people seem to be using it :) ( I wasnt sure people would need something like this or not), other than the place it was created for, I'll make it more complicated/ feature enhanced for the next version.

Something like that is planned. It may not be exactly the way you describe though, but that is an easy change, since all it requires is running one query to get the total count from that usergroup.

Sounds very interesting indeed. I guess what I'm really thinking of is there could be two main ways it's used... either as a fundraising status bar (towards a set goal) or for those sites running an on going subscription base (ie: we have X number of paid members this month). With a little bit of flexibility and automation I could see this being welcomed by many boards doing any kind of fund raising efforts.

Nice hack but Id suggest a few things.

- Seens how this is a donations totalizer it would be nice if the bar was maybe thicker and went vertically instead of horizontally like most totalizers do.

- Maybe have the image shift from red to green as the total is reached

Just also wondering why the instructions are in a .php file?

Nothing serious I know, just curious to why it isnt in .txt?

What a great opportunity to help out the tsunami disaster victims in a time of need. I installed this and am working towards a $1000 goal to give to the red cross (not that I don't need beer money though).

Is there a way to create this with the actual $ amount visible instead of the percentage?

BTW easy install and looks nice. Good Job!

I can't get this damn thing to match my colors. UGH>That is odd. It should just match up automatically.

I just changed the template...where it is says 100% I just change to 'Total $$ Amount'

Im sure you can use the donationstotal variable there instead of manually altering it but i dont know how to make it pull that up.

www.rustysoaptraders.com/forums/donationstotal.phpthat is cool, and about 1/2 of what I am looking for. I was hoping to make it state how much has been collected as well...

I have one of my super moderators in charge of donations for our site. I'd like her to have access to administrating the donation bar, but I don't want to promote her to an administrator just yet. Is there a way to move this to the mod CP panel?

On my board, it's totally black. Template was cut/pasted from the instructions file verbatim. Here's a screen-shot:

Shot1 1 is what I see when the page comes up. Shot2 is what I see when I hilight the text by mouse-dragging.

AHA! I found it! In the "donationstotal" template, he's using:

<table class="tborder" cellpadding="0".....

That means the table backgound will be the same color as the table border. You should change the TWO instances of this to:

class="alt1"

and

class="alt2"

If you want a small border around your table, change the border="0" to border="1"

The tip above really helped, thanks for that, wouldn't work without it.... just a black screen...

I thought at first this didn't work, it didn't show up anywhere unless I manually called the donationstotal.php file, where I eralized it did in fact work...

Reviewed the code again, and finally figured out this shows as a link under "Quick Links"

How can I put this right directly under the top banner? For example if it was installed here, it would be tiehr directly under the navbar (underneath user cp, FAQ, Rules, Member List, Calendar, etc.) or directly below the top banner?

I tried editing the Common Templates (header) but couldn't make it work...

What I am tryign to accomplish, is making people look at this graph all the time, and see progress as opposed to having to click on "quick links".....

Thanks all!
