Well, here's my input for you;

The forum has great potential; It may attract even more attention with a custom theme since you claim it is becoming very big... A pre-made skin is good for growing forums, but it has limitations... Maybe get some requests in over at vbulletintemplates.com

Anyways, the forums do try to stick with the AIM community, so props to you and your team (if you have one) there.

Much Regards,

Jonathan

Well as far as your content goes I think you might get a fairly active forum but there's not so much people can talk about, about one IM program unless you attract specific technical developers who are going to congregate their knowledge on your forum. But I may be wrong ;)

Design-wise, you have a stock style. If you want to stand out, be original and try and get a custom style :)

It is not immediately obvious to guests that you are referring to AOL Instant Messenger. Also, those ad buttons at the bottom of the page quickly earned themselves an entry in my Adblock list. One might not be bad, but not 15 or so in a row.

I can't view these forums without being registered. Can you provide a test account?

I think stopping unregistered people from viewing your forum is a huge mistake.

Its nice for invite-only places, but really if you're counting on walk-ins, what's to make anyone bother? your domain name? You're just one of several million websites... Most people arent going to hang around long enough to even think about registering, unless there's something there of interest...

... at least thats my reasoning... but honestly, who knows what goes through the minds of AIM users :D
