View Full Version : Change Thread Color Hack

A pretty simple hack.
I offer request areas on my site. Using the default Vbulletin style all threads are blue or bolded blue with new posts etc.
What I'd like would be a user would post a thread and it'd normally be blue or bold blue etc, but admins or admins and moderators could go into the thread, go to the dropdown and change the thread Color to Red.
This would help so us as admins would be aware of what requests still need to be processed. Then after we take care of their request, we go into the thread, and click the drop down Thread tools and we can change it back to the default color used.
Any help would be great.

I'll give a $25 payment to whoever wants to take this project on.
Not sure how much it's really worth, but $25 is what I can pay.
(Mods and Admins: If this has to be moved to another area since I am offering $25 for it, go ahead and give it a move to the other area.)

I think the point is, it didnt start free...
of course, if someone did it for free he wouldnt complain ;)
... I think I have a solution for you, though Yahhoon23 ...
Consider just changing the thread icon to something else for the unresolved threads.

Yes, we use the thread icon trick on our site to track unresolved requests/issues raised by users in threads.
A few pointers for going this route after you install the new icon:
1) Make sure you only use the icon for thread icon, not post icon. In other words, be sure you set the icon in "Edit Thread", not "Edit Post".
2) Once you have these floating about, you will need a way to find them. We added a search term on the "Advanced Search" form to list threads tagged with our special icon.

you can also use of the already coded thread prefix hacks that can be found on these forums. to only allow moderators to view it you can simply just put a permissions if statement around it and then moderators can go back later and change the thread prefix to the desired. if you have any further questions dont be afraid to ask;)
