View Full Version : Create New (manual, form-based) Subscription option
Ever wanted to be able to offer a subscription method other than Paypal/Nochex/Worldpay/Authorize?
If so, this is for you.
What it does: Adds a new Payment Method option in your AdminCP that you can assign as a new way for your members to use to subscribe.
We use it because NZ dollars aren't accepted by any of the available automatic methods, and some of our members choose to either use Internet Banking or to make manual payments.
You will need to make your own 'manual payment page'. I suggest using Erwin's Form to thread/PM/Email/Whatever hack. 'tis good.
CHANGES:
Files (2 plus temp config.php)
includes/functions_subscriptions.php
/subscriptions.php

Edit Admin CP option (1)

What happens when they click internet banking? is it a pre-made page? and will they be added to the usergroup even though they didn't pay?

Yeah, will they be added to the usergroup after they pay and will be kicked out after their subscriptions are over?

My question is same as Ranger2kxlt. I think you may have misinterpreted it. I think he was asking how do you confirm the bank transaction being done? Are you using bpay or another proprietary banking system?
My concern is that anyone can use this setup and be automatically added to the group without confirmation that payment has been made.

Righty...got my email settings working....got the thread notifications. :)
Well, your questions are really outside the scope of this hack..I don't say to create an Internet Banking option...thats's just what I use it for, and I do specify that it is a *manual* process.
In conjunction with the Form to PM/Email/Thread hack, this allows my members to choose to fill in a form to let me know they have deposited the funds to the bank account.
The bank account details are given on the form, with a conditional to only show them to members.
The form is emailed to me, and posted to a special thread that is viewable by admins only. We specify that by doing the upgrade in this manner, it will take 3-5 days for the Subscription to be processed.
Instead of having all the variables that are sent to Paypal etc, it has the one GET of the form.php file.
*edit* After testing, being pretty sure it wouldn't create a subscription...it didn't. Hoorah.

well thanks anyhow. I can do this by having the member PM me confirming the bpay transaction and add them to the group with an expiration.

No problems.
I have found that, with people who have no Credit Card, this option provides them with an easier way to continue with the Subscription, and stops them giving up at that point.

I honestly do not see the benefit here. My users can use Paypal, bpay or even direct pay through wire to the site account at CBA. No need for me to have to have them fill a form when I get notice in email on all bank transactions every day. They have to notate the account on wire as to whom it is from. If they do not they will PM me within 4 hours to confirm that I received it. I still stick them in the group and have it auto expire in the time frame they donated for. This has nothing to do with CC either.

ok kall....so your saying...when they sign up and use your internet banking...in my case i will have check/MO, it will not add them to the subscription until i verify everything?
that was the main question, what stops them from signing up and not paying....b/c it auto subscribes them when they click order.

It does?
What version of vB are you running?
It doesn't subscribe them on my one...just like how when they click NOCHEX or PayPal and don't complete the order (or the gateway doesn't talk to the vB).

Ok got it working :-D...only thing would like to see.....on the user created page, how do you make that page look like the rest of your site? and also is there a way to say you just signed up for ...... <--subscription name there. at the price of ...... for ..... day/months/years/etc..., and then have a "print" button? I want to use this for check orders, and the easiest way for me to pull up what they want is if they could print the page and mail it with the payment.??
Thanks for the help!

Works great, thanks kall. I used it to add a "snail mail" option for money orders.
