I just upped v1.2, there was a discrepancy in the instructions, and I resolved a issue with large categories and page navigation.

This mod allows you the ability to categorize each game in a particular category.

The new homepage of the arcade allows for the showing of these categories.
if you click on a category link you are taken to a normal arcade listing, although the only games listed in the listing are those in that particular arcade.

Yeah, and how much game there are per category. It's a nice system, but it takes the charme of the acade a bit away. Would it be possible to see your categories between the news block and the games block on arcade main. With the options to get the whole list on one page (small icons), on multiple pages with the big icons and multiple pages ordered by category?

I have a problem when I get to edit the arcade.php. I cannot find:

It takes aaagggeeessss to configure categories for 394+ games!! I dont have any problem TTG, apart from it removing the option to uninstall games from the admin cp, which I had to add back...

One question for the author, could you do some kind of 'cateogy champion' and could you do an alternate row colour each time, so that it looks better?

Umm.. the mod is asking for an image called /images/arcade/king.gif which I don't have and was not included in this mod. Could someone please post it here?

I seem to be having some trouble with my database, I'm not sure if I added the table correctly. The script modifications went smooth, I am just stuck on the SQL part.
I am running vb 3.0.5 and phpMyAdmin. Could someone help me out with adding the tables for this mod?

I believe you just go to PHPMyAdmin and go to the SQL Tab... (I am using 2.6.1-rc2)

Then in the field below 'Run SQL query/queries on database bengals:' you would just paste the modifications..

Can someone tell me if I am correct.. All the hacks I have installed to this point did not involve doing this...

I see you implemented the arcade king hack into this... I like the idea in doing that so that the king is listed on the categories page, BUT, I installed the 'top 5 arcade kings' hack and I get the top person on the category page, and then from within each category, I see the top 5...

Is it possible to get the top 5 arcade kings listed on the category page as well?

I updated to VB 3.0.7 last week and everything is working fine EXCEPT for this. Now the file edits are still there in arcadeadmin.php (obviously since that's not updated). However I just added 27 new games and I cannot add them to a category. I can edit my other 150+ games but I can't "categorize" these new ones.

I want to stress that everything else w/ the arcade is working. the only change was the 3.0.7 update and I only uploaded the changed files and even then, after I had merged my 3.0.6 hacks into the clean 3.0.7 files. Ppl can play games, record scores, I can access the arcade admin, clear zero scores, remove games, even recategorize existing games.

We can even play the new games w/o issue. But they're in the wrong category. Any ideas?

interesting, it seems that any and all new games that I add cause errors with the arcadeadmin.php. The problem is that all the category fields are greyed out. See the screenshot for what I'm referring to.

The errors that are popping up in IE are:
Expected identifier
Expected ';'

there are 54 errors in total, 27 of each. They all point to lines that describe the newly installed games. The catch is, I cannot find any difference between these new additions and the existing arcade games. The lines look the same between the old and new games. Anyone else?

One of the lines that it's complaining is this:

I have no problem with any other area of the arcade. I can even change the game categories around in the "Game Categories" link in the admincp "Add Game Category" works too.

BUT when i click on the "game settings" in the admincp I get this ERROR

I have the correct names these are just x'd out.

There shouldn't be a . between the prefix and the table name. This isn't the only hack that has issues w/ prefixes. I wish someone could explain how to prevent issues like this.

I am running 3.0.7. Everything installed fine and I get no errors, but When i move the games into diffrent catagories, the game get turned off and it won't let me turn them back on threw game settings. Help Plz!

I can however turn them on if I manualy do so inside the database.

I got the same error when trying to run the DB Queries threw the VB Admin Area. Try Running each query seporatly and it shoudl work fine. It just doesn't liek you running more that one query at a time.

I believe that your issues with games are beginning with numbers, right? I think that is a known issue. I am learning as I go, but have always wanted to get into the code to see about correcting that. I think it is a problem in the javascript and dealing with numbers as the first character. Someone correct me if I am wrong, though!

I follow all the instruction except i changed the table prefix for it from CREATE TABLE `gamescat` ( to CREATE TABLE `vb3_gamescat` ( and INSERT INTO `gamescat` to INSERT INTO `vb3_gamescat` because my forum table prefix is vb3. How to fix this problem?

I found a slight bug while installing a new arcade. In your arcade king section of code you need to ammend the query to read:

$mosthighscores = $DB_site->query("SELECT games.highscorerid, user.username, user.userid FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "games AS games
LEFT JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS user ON user.userid = games.highscorerid WHERE games.highscorerid!=''");

instead of:

$mosthighscores = $DB_site->query("SELECT games.highscorerid, user.username, user.userid FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "games AS games
LEFT JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS user ON user.userid = games.highscorerid");

or in the case you have more games without a highscorerid it will just loop the results and not show the arcade king.

I ran all the queries perfectly fine and am running 3.0.7, but when I go into gamesettings, the games aren't there and they aren't on the arcade main page. I get this error:

Any idea? This line is like in the middle of the code you need to put in.

Hi Guys,

First off great add on..

Everything works fine apart from 1 thing. I have catagorised the default v3 arcade 5 games (fresh install) into 3 classic, 1 skill, 1 shooter. But when i click on any of the catagorys on the front end it is displaying all 5 games and not just the ones i have placed in that catagory.

Any help on which bit of code displays the catagorys and what to ammend would be greatful. The only other add on I have installed is the one that displays the catagorys in most games > fewest games. Which is just 1 line of code.

Any help would be appreciated.

Now that I've done this Catergories hack, the main arcade page seems a little dull. I want to have the "latest 10 games" displayed. Basically give it the look it had BEFORE the categories hack was added but make it the NEWEST ADDED games. Any pointers in which direction I should go sniffing at code? Please and thank you.

the instruction is a damn mess.. this will only work for a non-modified arcade.php, since you obviously were too lazy to write proper modification instructions, instead you just threw in the code of your final arcade.php.. which pretty much wrecks all previously applied modifications. probably a decent addon, definitely non-decent instructions.

ps: currently comparing your code with mine, trying to get it in there some way. I noticed this line in the instructions: $game = $DB_site->query("SELECT * FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "games A, gamescat B WHERE A.categoryID = B.categoryID ORDER BY gameid ");

I think gamescat should include the table prefix, e.g. " . TABLE_PREFIX . "gamescat
