I dunno if this would be too much to ask or even a good idea, but what the hey, i thought i'd ask anyway, do you think we could get another forum for open source projects, so everyone could work together? type thing :)

The nature of PHP is open-source. Unless we can find some sort of CVS-type system for many people working on a single project, we're better off the way we are, with a single hack author, and other coders designing add-on's to the hack.

Well, you don't necessarily have to have CVS or any other form of version control system to deal with open-source projects.. or any other form of development for that matter.. It does help, but is not mandantory..
I personally think it would be a good idea for an open-source area for hacks because some hacks have been asked for, folks have promised to do them, but in the end get to busy with their own projects, life, etc.. to do them.. This way, someone can come in, get up to speed, maybe add functionality or even just feedback.. potentially could bring about a ton of asked for items and maybe a stronger sense of community again..
