We have a group that wants to mimic the functionality of the online yahoo groups in our forums so that they can get rid of yahoo and start using vb and keep things "local" and ad-free etc. Plus, who wants to be forced into a yahoo account ;)

Problem 2: On yahoo you can create simple db tables - excel like tables simple enough for just about anyone to configure.

We use these for things like events for members of the group and if they will be attending or not. A simple table of usernames, events (at the top) and let them say yes, no, maybe, busy that day or whatever. Its so simple and crude in yahoo, yet makes a lot of sense. In vb this seems like it would take a major revolution to code up...

the calendar feature would alow for this... no need for a crude table when you have the calendar feature.

Not sure I see the same thing happening in the calendar... ? Other than putting events on a calendar, it doesn't track who is going to attend nor does it show it in a very friendly way.

members can add info the the cal... assuming you give them access to do so. if there's an event, they could simply add a response to the cal that indicates their attendance.

Isnt there an event attendance hack out?
