We have a group that wants to mimic the functionality of the online yahoo groups in our forums so that they can get rid of yahoo and start using vb and keep things "local" and ad-free etc. Plus, who wants to be forced into a yahoo account ;)

Problem 1: On yahoo if you are subscribed to a thread you get the option to get emails or read them online. In vb you have to subscribe to a thread in order to get emails.

I would like a way to take one whole forum, regardless of the underlying threads, and force emails to group members for every post. (or make it an option at least for users not checking the forums regularly)

same here, but in looking at the date of last post June, doesn't seem to be much response... Sigh, on to the next one...

this is a good feature, sure... i think it would need 4 or 5 queries that would make the job, means it would require to verify all users subscribed to a main forum so they are tags as subscribed to all threads created in that forum/sub-forums...

as i can't handle this for now (priority to paid jobs), i think that this hint is good...

heheh.. ok, since we have a response here, what would it cost??
I said hiding away in a corner...

In reading the various forums where there were responses, it would apear that subscribing to the forums doesn't work. Just to the Threads themselves, so it's pretty much each man for themselves to sign up for threads...

There was a "Hack" for versions 2.9 or lower, I think I read it that way, but nothing I've seen yet...

So what would it cost and done in such a way that it wouldn't be outdated on the next upgrade... if that's possible...

thanx..

just PM me for a quote, if you want to hide in the corner... i know exactly how to deal with the system, but i don't know how many lines i will have to code to make that happen... or maybe with a little time, some other great friend here will be able to release something for free...

and when i create something, it's always future compatible... (hey, i'm a Mac tech, so future is always in mind!)

if you want to hide in the corner...

Just at the cost of it... but am interested..
the Web site is:
http://www.mossbaydiveclub.org/portal/forums/index.php?

Would like a switch or able to copy code (simply) on to a particular page... to make it happen.. I'm putting it here as others would/could probably use the same thing...

Let me know what you need..
thanx much...

I'd be interested in sharing some of the cost, too.
