Just trying to find out what chatroom software people are using on their sites and how they perform?
I'm looking for something that is java (not HTML) will log a user in with their forum username without them having to sign in again.
Also preferable that it loads in a page and not a new window.
Oh ... and is preferably not too expensive.

I use Raidersoft Sigma Chat.. the free version has almost all of what you asked for and the paid version(s) have all.

I've been using jpilot of it seems to have a lot of stuff to it. The new beta version 2.8 has even more and looks and works great! It does cost but I think it is worth it. ;)

There seems to be so many options to choose from on here

There seems to be so many options to choose from on hereI have it integrreated into my site and it seems to work very well. There are a few things you have to do to run it from a template instead of the html file (because of the way vBulletin parses) but all in all, it is very good and the beta is even better. Brian is adding some great stuff to it. ;)
Oh, and the number problem has been fixed (in the beta, anyway). ;)

What do you mean by that moonclamp? Sounds like a bad thing. I too am looking to fully integrate a chat room.

If you are connected to an IRC server there is a slight risk that you will get visits off of users who aren't members of your forum.
Also if your user has a simple name such as "Paul" and they try to log in they will probably get a message saying that their username is already registered and will get automatically renamed to "Guest1045789" or similar unless they enter the IRC "/nick" command
It rarely happens but it is a possibility

But there is an easy way around the "Paul" type name issue. I add -BF2 to the end of the username when they log on so I have that part covered pretty well. And my IRC chat room is only available to registered members.

Do you know what I add to my template to make my room hidden and to add a prefix to my users?
