require post icon for new threads...

i found a 2.x hack that requires a post icon be selected for new posts. it can be found HERE (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=55488&highlight=require+post+icon), however, this one is for posts. i'm not sure if that's all posts or just new threads.

i'm interested in requiring members to select a post icon for new threads, not new posts.

icing on the cake would be allowing it to be forum specific... meaning you can set whether or not a forum would require a post icon be selected for new threads started within that forum.

can somethign be done like this?

if someone can even just tell me how you "port" a hack... i'll take that too. i just would like to use this on my 3x board.
