View Full Version : LAN Sign up hack

KOM

Sup guy's, Ok I have one for ya. I run a LAN and I would like a hack that would let people sign-up that are members of my Forums. How I would like it to work.
1. more or less this hack would be used in VBA.

How it would work, They would hit register on the main menu. a page/templet would open up in the center of the website. It would have have a drop down box and in that box would have what ever the name of the event was. Then they would hit next.
The 2nd page to open would have the Agreement / Rules. At the end of that it would have a box to check saying they agree with the rules

the 3rd page would have like the time of the event and other info
and a drop down box on the prices.

the 4th page would be more info about the lan and how to go about paying it and thanking them for signing up.

I know the coder that would do this would not add all the info in the pages I was just trying to give a exp..

And where all this info go's is up to the person that is making this hack
but if some way it could go in a Template and every one that signed up it would just like post a replay that would be awesome.. But a e-mail will work too..

Any one up for this crazy task? Not sure if a lot of people would be able to use this hack but it would he nice to have..

Upgrade on WIP: (http://s87385148.onlinehome.us/forums/events.php)
Version 0.6.6 (http://s87385148.onlinehome.us/forums/events.php)

Terms page now works.
Differentiates between events that have passed and events that are yet to come.
Small amount of AdminCP integration. (Will continue.)
Registration page needs to be made, although not sure how to do it. A standard set of questions, or a part of setting up the event where you set what's asked? Ideas would be helpful.
HTML is cleaner, links in decent-looking places.
Navbar fixed. :)
Still doesn't check to see if you're a registered user or not... ;) (Good for now, but will be fixed by v0.9)
If you see a feature I'm missing, let me know in this thread. Also, I plan on adding a "description" field on the details page.

Yes, I know that the first event there is "old". I set the date to 0 because I don't know UNIX time, and without an ACP interface, I had to enter it through phpmyadmin. ;)

looks nice so far. If you need any further help please post it here. What problem do you have with Unix time ?

Here this will help, this is where I got the idea.. I took some SS page 1-4

Page1 (http://www.wvgl.net/lansignup/page1.JPG) Page2 (http://www.wvgl.net/lansignup/page2.JPG) page3 (http://www.wvgl.net/lansignup/page3.JPG) Page4 1 of 2 (http://www.wvgl.net/lansignup/page4-1of2.JPG) page4 2 of 2 (http://www.wvgl.net/lansignup/page4-2of2.JPG)

The 5th page will have a list of all the people that singed up..

If there is any way to make this hack work on the website like in the center of my site that would be awesome

but this should help out a lot

(update) On page 3 I don't need all the drop down box's Just the How many WVGL lans have you attended and the entry free. For the 3rd box I would like a optional text box where they can fell in the Referal or the person that told them about the lan.. I would like all the info that they submited to go to the 5th page..

On the 5th page I know this is a long shot and would be hard to pull off but under there name have if they paid or not. So if they payed it would have there name and then Paid if not there would be a link under there name that says pay with paypal and after paying .then the user name would say paid.

OR

Just make it so I could go in and change it to say paid or not paid for each member that singed up. The not paid would have a link to go pay using paypal

Thanks guys. :)

As for Unix time, I just never wrote an AdminCP interface to add new events. The only interface I have for adding events is through phpMyAdmin, and I don't know Unix timestamps offhand. ;)

Found a good site though for converting standard time into Unix timestamps though. :)

KOM
05-21-2004, 11:44 PM
Sweet, cuz I don't have phpMyAdmin.. SO this will install with the AdminCP then right ?

dstruct2k
05-22-2004, 03:41 PM
Yeah, I've got a half-assed AdminCP interface right now, just enough for me to use. :)

I'll write that as the final piece, as I won't need it for testing.

Upgrade on WIP:
Version 0.7.2 (http://s87385148.onlinehome.us/forums/events.php)
List of users attending events. If logged out, told you must log in. If already registered for an event, given a link to unregister. Registration pages 3/4 complete. AdminCP integration: Choose how many past and present events are shown on the main page or disable the hack completely.
Templates are near completion as well. Only a few more pages need templates written, and I'll be done with HTML. :) Only 2 actions left to program in the main PHP file, and an admincp interface for adding/removing/managing events, and I should be done programming PHP as well!

I can't believe I've done this all on my own.

.... Dammit.

I guess I've got too much large-filesize content on the site, as my host shut me down for the month, saying I hit my allotted 5GB of transfer.

The emails they sent never said anything about the lock being removed next month (3 days away, thankfully) but I'm sure they will reset the counter on June 1st. :)

Hopefully.

Not downloads, but people are slightly addicted to the arcade... I think I'm going to alter my arcade to allow me to host the .swf files on another server to take the bandwidth load off of my main server. :)

My home machine sends at about 50 kb/s, and I have a webserver running... Hmm... :D

Upgrade on WIP:
Version 0.8.8 RC (http://s87385148.onlinehome.us/forums/events.php)

Possibility of using serialization to extend data collected from users
Templates finalized
Registration actually works now
Anyone still wanting more features, drop me a PM or just post them here. ;)

HellRazor
06-28-2004, 06:23 PM
Oh, and for features, here are some I'd like to see:

1. The person creating the event can set a maximum number of people who can register for the event.

2. The person creating the event can add or remove people from the registration list.

3. Integration with the VBulletin calendar.

dstruct2k
06-28-2004, 07:41 PM
I knew I forgot something... ;) That'll come with #1. Bit more work, but can be done. (Was actually planned for version 1.1)
Right now, the AdminCP interface is being constructed, once that is complete, I'll release version 0.91 (RC2)

If all goes well, version 1.0 (with some serialization to collect information from users that register) will be released, along with me starting to work on version 1.1, which will include calendar integration, customizable information collection, and perhaps even seating charts... Although the charts might be a bit extreme.

I could integrate this with the "paid subscriptions" part of vB to allow people to pay the registration fees through Paypal during their registration, but that will have to wait until 1.1... Until 1.1, the admin will have to deal with payments on their own.

HellRazor, my first version (which in comparison to what I'll either call 1.1 or 2.0 has almost nothing for features) has more features than that does. :)

All I'm lacking right now is calendar integration, but when I do that I should be able to collect a lot more information from people instead of a "yes/no".

The plan is for it to integrate with the subscriptions system, I haven't even taken a look at that yet though.

I'm tempted to release the current version as a beta... But then again, it's still missing too many features I want to add. I don't want people seeing it, saying "that's... nice", and turning away, and ignoring it when a new version comes out with more. I want people to be hooked from the beginning. So it'll probably be another month before I make a release.

(Yes, KOM has it now. He paid. ;))

dstruct2k
07-24-2004, 03:07 AM
I took a look at the subscription system -- the PHP looks too useless to bother making a mod in there. But, I was thinking that maybe I could adapt some code out of it and copy it into my hack. (Less file edits because the functions would be in a new file instead of hacking into an old one.)

I'll also be adding some code that adds events from vbEvents into the calendar pages too, so the events will show up there. :) That shouldn't be too hard. A couple quick mods to calendar.php should make that work.

I have a quick question though -- Who here would like for this hack to be HTL-compatible? I've already figured that HTL is the easiest way for me to export this hack, but from there I could generate an installer... I'd like to see some votes on the HTL. :)
