First question I have is, how do I tell what version I currently have??? I know this sounds silly but I thought I was running version 3.0 but I'm not. Apparently the copy I installed was a hacked up copy. I now have a license and I'm trying to correct things on my forum. The bottom of my pages say Vbulletin 3.0.0 however I do not have the correct directory structure for that version. So I know it's version 2.x.x and that's it.......I know, that doesn't help very much....sorry.

Second question, how do I upgrade so I don't lose all of the data that is currently in my forum??? Can I just backup MySQL, install VB 3.0, then restore my database??? If that's possible, how do I restore my database??

I apologize for all of the questions in one post but I would really like to get to version 3.0 without losing any data or the scheme/layout of my forum. My purpose for this is so I can set up the VBadvanced homepage hack after I get on version 3.0 of VB.

1. Were going to need to do abit of digging to find out what version you really have.

2. Youll need to run the upgrade just like everyone else once we fix the version number problem

Bleh i didnt relize i was on this account >.>

Are there any visual differences in the directory/file structure or the admin cp that would help to determine what version this is??? It says version 3.0.0 at the bottom of my pages. It also says 3.0.0 at the top of the admin cp. Worst case senario, I suppose it's not that big of a deal to just start from scratch....I just got my forum up and running so I have less than 100 posts and only 7 users so far.

Not with out alot of looking at code.

2.2.x & 2.3x look about the same visually.

If youd like you can send me a pm with FTP + AdminLogin + phpmyadmin access, ill take a look around, i think i know what version you have but i need to check & change somthign (somthing being the verison number)

I really appreciate you taking the time to try to help however, I wiped everything out and started from scratch today. I was a relatively new forum with only a few posts and users so It was no big deal to start over. And now I am, without a doubt, running version 3.0.0. Once I get everything set up again how I like it, I will be installing the vbadvanced homepage mod. That mod is the reason why I wanted to go to version 3.

I just got VB3 up and running a few minutes ago....OH MY GOD!!!!! This looks so much nicer than the older version (at least from the administration side of things). I love it so far.

Anyway, thanks again for at least trying to help.
